Use of Blast Furnace Dust in the Production of Asphalt Concrete for Pavements, Performance and Environmental Contribution

This study analyzed the possible use of a residue from steel industry, blast furnace dust, as aggregate in asphalt mixtures for pavements, solution to problems generation and accumulation industrial waste production steel, well exploitation non-renewable materials infrastructure construction. In solid residues such slag dust are generated, which become waste. Another found issue pavement construction is stone necessary. Two test states were selected achieve established objective where totally (100%) or partially (50%) replaced conventional fine an mixture at laboratory. The applied methodology consisted four stages: establishing properties materials, determining composition designing each using Ramcodes methodology, finally performing performance tests dynamic modulus fatigue laws. results show acceptable behavior allow define that this technically feasible manufacturing pavements.
